e-CO2 Gel Mask Physiology

Is co2 Toxic?

Co2 is non-toxic. It is naturally produced by the cells in our body every day. It is a product of normal metabolism where it is transported into the blood and exhaled. Co2 gas that is dissolved in water can be absorbed through skin and increase oxygen supply to skin tissues. Oxygen supply is thus controlled by co2.

Co2 Physiology and Clinical Practice

Carboxytherapy was first discovered by the Royal Spa of France in the 1930’s when bathing in the pools of carbon dioxide rich water was shown to accelerate wound healing. It increases collagen formation under the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. The procedure was widely used to treat ischemic vascular diseases due to its vasodilation properties of Co2. The application of Carboxytherapy in the aesthetic field was then introduced by a group of Italian doctors in the year of 2000. It is now widely used in US as in Europe.

Carbon Dioxide not only plays a vital role as a transdermal medium of increasing metabolism and as a basic ingredient of photosynthesis, it also acts as a healing remedy when applied to the skin topically. Furthermore, Co2 enriched water was recognized to have strong curative power for regulating autonomic function, vascular disorder, circulatory disorder and wound healing.

Co2 inhalation has the same effects on healthy individual or arterial occlusion patients. It facilitates Co2 transport in the veins and exhalation of Co2 outside of the body.

Co2 application to the skin not only raises the partial pressure of oxygen underneath the skin but in the muscles as well (Komoto et al., 1986). A rise in Co2 directly lowers the pH level of the skin, thus increases oxygen dissociation from haemoglobin, and making the absorption of oxygen within the tissue easier. This is called the Bohr Effect.

e-Co2 Gel Mask - The First Transdermal Co2 Administration Formulation

e-Co2 gel mask is manufactured based on the Bohr Effect. Our major goal of treatment is to improve microcirculation and thereby elevating oxygen supply and transport of the metabolic pathway of the end products. It is a useful method to reduce the risk of infection and improve wound healing after various types of aesthetic procedures ranging from fractional laser, IPL, Chemical Peel to clinical micro-needling. In addition to its anti-erthyma and anti-inflammatory properties, it is painless, non-toxic and does not need special caution throughout the application. Since e-co2 gel mask treatment is well tolerated by the skin, it has excellent safety profile even for the most sensitive skin.

Main Functions:

Vasodilation

The rise in the Co2 concentration within the tissue and peripheral blood vessels causes precapillary arterioles to dilate. The same theory applies to topical application of e-Co2 gel mask onto the skin. Vasodilation occurs when the concentration of Co2 increases. The arteries of the skin in particular dilate based on the account that the pH of the skin continues to decline. This takes place during Co2 administration to the skin. (Diji and Greenfield, 1960)

Increase in Blood Flow

e-Co2 gel mask has a remarkable influence on blood flow and blood coagulation. During its application, the process promotes coagulation and normalizes the fibrinolysis inhibition status (Hartmann, 1993). The reason being the capillaries were re-perfused with fluid flow in cells and protein which complies with the pharmacological blood diluting effect (Ernst et al., 1990). These findings give experimental support of clinical use of Co2 in the treatment of disturbances of skin circulation as well as skin ulcers and wounds.

Patients will see immediate noticeable results that improve in each e-Co2 gel mask treatment. Our medical grade ingredients are formulated to achieve excellent results for:
